Evaluation of a water balance model using data for bare soil and crop surfaces in Middle Europe

چکیده
This paper compares the results of simulations and measurements of evapotranspiration from cultivated fields in Middle Europe. The modelling system THESEUS (i.e. toolbox for hydro-ecological simulation and evaluation utilities) from Wegehenkel (1997a, 2000) was used in this study. Evapotranspiration was also calculated from the latent heat flux density (LE) measured using a modified Bowen ratio method. The model, as well as the modification of the Bowen ratio procedure are described. Heat balance components for eight measurement periods (81 days) were used in the comparison. There was good agreement between model simulations and measurements. The average relative error in evapotranspiration estimation by the model was about 10% for time of integration of few days, and the error decreases with the increase of integration time. The error is smaller for higher daily rates of evapotranspiration. © 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

SSM-Wheat: a simulation model for wheat development, growth and yield
A robust crop model can assist in genetic improvement and cultural management of the crop. The objectives of this study were to describe a wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) model and to report results of its evaluation. The model simulates phenological development, leaf development and senescence, crop mass production and partitioning, plant nitrogen balance, yield formation and soil water and ...
متن کاملEstimation of effective precipitation for winter wheat in different regions of Iran using an Extended Soil-Water Balance Model
Estimated Effective Precipitation (Pe) in dryland areas is an essential element of water resource management. Itrepresents the amount of precipitation available in the crop root zone to meet the needs of evapotranspiration. Thecurrent study compared different approaches for estimating Pe in different climatic zones of Iran. A two-layer soil–water balance (SWB) model was adopted based on the pro...
متن کاملDetermination of optimal and and water allocation under limited water resources using soil water balance in Ordibehesht canal of Doroodzan water district
ABSTRACT- Inadequate water supply is the major problem for agriculture in arid and semi-arid regions. Thus, effective management should be considered for water resources planning. In this research, a model was provided which is able to estimate optimal land and water allocation in the Doroodzan irrigation network. Optimal water management model was used at farm level to evaluate different defic...
متن کاملCalibration and validation of a soil water simulation model (WaSim) for field grown Amaranthus cruentus
A water simulation model (WaSim) to simulate the growth and development of Amaranthus cruentus as well as the components of water balance for a typical sandy-clay-loam soil of Akure has been described. Dry season experiments were carried between January and March of 2005 and 2006. Amaranthus seeds were established on the field and three irrigation water managements were imposed on the crop to d...
متن کاملEvaluation of the SALTMED model for sorghum under saline conditions in an arid region
SALTMED model has been developed to predict yield, soil salinity and watercontent under saline conditions. A two year field experiment was carried out during2012-13 to calibrate and validate the model for sorghum. Plants were irrigated withsalinity levels of 2, 6, 10 and 14 dS m-1. Results showed that there were significantdifferences between the observed and simulated sorghum dry matter (SDM) ...
